My 360 used to have absolutely no problem detecting my PC. And I thought I hadn’t done anything new. I had struggled with a lot of things, such as trying to open ports and tinkering firewalls. I had even enabled Windows Firewall to see if it would work. No dice.
But after awhile, I figured out the problem and streaming media worked on my 360 again. The problem was that my laptop had discovery turned off. Now streaming works, but it only works half the time! The other times it doesn’t pick up my PC, or it does and is only able to stream the first few seconds of a video or song. It feels like my 360 only picks up media when it feels like it, and it doesn’t feel like it too often.
And yes, I did all the obvious things. I set up WMP11 to enable media sharing. I looked around my McAfee SecurityCenter Firewall and had no real luck. I have UPnP enabled. I’m pretty sure the ports are still open (I hadn’t done anything involving ports before and my 360 was fine). I continued adjusting things and even permanently disabled Windows Firewall (the correct way; preventing it from starting up) to see if it would work then.
And just to straighten things out, my PC doesn’t have problems detecting the 360 (the “Xbox 360″ icon shows up on the network map when I have the console powered on), I’m using Windows Vista Home Premium, and I’m not using the “Windows Media Center” stuff (I don’t feel like using Media Center).
Just to clear things, I have the following:
Vista Home Premium (NOT XP)
Windows Media Player 11
XBox 360 Elite Console
Linksys WRT160N Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router
XBox 360 Wireless WiFi USB Adapter
McAfee SecurityCenter (TOSHIBA)
I’ve tried my best to be specific. Can anybody help me?
And if anybody is going to ask, Xbox LIVE works perfectly fine. I’ve had no problems with LIVE yet.

I have to sell my Xbox 360 quick, so I decided on Gamestop.
How much will I get for it?
SELL it, not TRADE IT.
NOT STORE CREDIT.
CASH.
Hoped to make the clear for you.
Also, tomorrow is, “Black friday,” they have that one deal were if you trade in an Xbox 360/PS3/Wii then you get an extra $40, could that apply to “selling it in?”
And while you’re at it, do you think I could sell it on eBay or Amazon and get the cash before December 18th-ish?
Thanks.

People always argue over which system is better. I’ve seen articles about the two, and they usually say that the Xbox 360 is better, but the PS3 has more potential.
The Xbox 360 is easier to design games for, and it had pretty good graphics. The PS3 usually has better contrast, but lower-resolution textures or smaller draw distances. There are also more bugs and glitches… No one really uses the 50GB Blu-Ray disk to its full potential. There’s Metal Gear Solid 4, and some other PS3 exclusives, but over 80% of the games for the PS3 can pretty much fit into a DVD.
The PS3 has better specs, but if you just look at the numbers, then that must mean the Gamecube and Xbox are better than a PS2, which isn’t really true.
Xbox 360: Pros
Good Graphics
Better Exclusive Games (but that’s just an opinion)
Cheaper
Bigger Hard Drive
Better Online Stuff (Xbox Live is known to be > PSN)
Less Bugs/Glitches
Can Play AND Charge Controllers
Usually Voted For Better-Feeling Controller
PS3: Pros
Free Online Multiplayer (but $4 a month isn’t that big of a deal…)
Better Controller for Fighting Games
Good Contrast (stuff ain’t pitch-black at times)
UP TO 7 CONTROLLERS CONNECTED AT ONCE (but the use of this isn’t very clear)
Blu-Ray Media Player
Can Connect to PSP (Microsoft doesn’t even have a portable console)
Quiet
Xbox 360: Cons
WTF is with the Super-Contrast???
Large Population of Kids/Teens (I’m a [proud?] member of this group)
RRoD (I’ve heard there is a 33% chance of your 360 to PHAIL! But I also heard there’s a new Falcon chipset that has a smaller chance to overheat)
Loud
The D-Pad on our controllers is crap
PS3: Cons
Hard to design games for
Can’t recharge controller AND play at the same time (but I just heard this. No real research on the PS3)
Updates take a long time
Some games have a mandatory installation
More bugs and glitches in games.
Can someone explain to me why fanboys insist that their system is better, but usually don’t have anything to back it up with?
Or, answer to me with this wealth of info about which system is better, and will be better in the next 2 years. (People are still learning how to design for the PS3)

Before anyone answers, I want you to read this very closely. My current xbox is dying (graphical errors, freezing, screen flashing and sitting at solid lines), so I am looking to basically just replace the physical console. I already have two wireless controllers, 20 gig hard drive, comp cables, headset, and such from my old Xbox 360.
So my question is this, does the Xbox 360 console that comes with the arcade bundle perform any less or any differently than the console that comes with the elite bundle? Or is it the same base console with a black casing? Are there different chip sets in each, or processors?
I want to know if the Xbox elite console out performs the Xbox arcade console. I don’t care about peripherals or hard drives and such. A clear cut answer would be nice, so thank you in advance.
P.S. Please don’t post links to articles on this debate unless it clearly discusses the consoles themselves, and not the bundles or accessories for each. I just want to know how the physical consoles themselves compare or if they are the same. Thanks
Ok,
i recently connected to xbox live and created a gold account, i used the free trial for 30 days. when i did that, i had about 1355Gamerscore. during the two days i used xbox live i added some friends and sent out a barage of friend requests. i haven’t connected to xbox live since then. today, my gamerscore is about 1800G. But many of the requests i’ve sent have been accepted.
so here’s the thing:
Offline (on my xbox HDD)
gamertag with 1800g and three stars in Rep and about 5 friends on friend list
Online (on xbox.com CURRENTLY)
1355g with 4.2 stars rep and at least 8 friends on friend list
they both have the same name.
moopMASTER 2000
but. if i were to connect to xbox live again, would both accounts (offline and online) sync up to produce one synced account with 1800G, 4.2 stars rep and 8+ friends or would it erase my gamerscore of 1800 and replace it with 1355?
i need a clear response to this burning question
10 points for best answer! GO!
PS3’s graphics and processor is better than 360. I’ve heard alot of problem with people’s Xbox 360 where the light would turn red and they’d have to return it. And then the “Xbox 360 Lovers” want to complain that the PS3’s processors eventually burn out over about 5 years. I want to clear this up, from somebody who owns them both. Which one is better? Please state facts, not anything like “Xbox 360’s better because its cool and Microsoft made it.” Real facts, please……….
Thanks, guys.
guys, i asked for NO opinions, just facts. Thanks.

Ok, I’ve been trying to get a crisp clear answer by searching previous answers but I can’t. I need to know what the difference between a normal av cord (red, white and yellow) and then the other cord that comes with it which has different colors than red white and yellow and then a hd av cord (the link below). I want to hook my XBOX up to the surround sound. I just ordered my 360 off the internet so it isn’t here yet. I don’t know what cables it has. Can I do it without the av cord? If not is this cord all that I would need?

Which one is better and why? I really like the graphics and clear view of the PS3 while playing NBA 09, but I like many of the Xbox 360 game such as Halo.
